MyWxBrief - Built by pilots, for pilots.

My name is Omar, and I'm a private pilot and creator of MyWxBrief.com. I got my license well before the i-devices became standard cockpit equipment for many GA pilots. Shortly thereafter, I stopped flying. Completely. For 13 years.

And then a few years ago, my life changed in way that made flying an option, and even better, one that made the faintest resemlbance of financial sense: my wife, our toddler, our newborn, based out of a remote airport in northern New Mexico, wanted a way to more frequently visit two sets of grandparents within a 500 mile radius and make quarterly weekend getaways. So We joined a partnership that operates '69 Cessna Skylane.

While working on my instrument rating, I became fascinated with aviation weather. At the same time, assembling all of the information I wanted, beyond the standard briefing, was a painful, time-consuming, and inefficent process. As a pilot in the moutain west, where squirrely winds and icy clouds are the norm, I found that the standard weather briefings in flight planning applications just didn't include all of the information I needed to make an informed go/no-go decisions. And for those apps that included more of what I wanted to see, it was easy to get lost in the endless menus, "taps", and "swipes" required to find everything.

So I set out to create an application that suppliments the standard weather briefing, with a customizable experience, showing you the weather that you want to see, when you want to see it. Automatically.

Image that you're planning a trip from Albuquerque to Wichita departing in a few days, and you have a pretty good idea of your route and the weather you may want to see leading up to your flight. You can get the basics in any flight planning app. But what if you wanted to receive updated briefings more frequently the day before? And what if you wanted to cross check trends in METAR winds, ceilings, and alitimeter reports against prognostic, clounds, and surface condition forecasts at your destination? And what if you wanted to view all those fantastic forecast images in dynamic movie loop, rather than static images?

With MyWxBrief, you select the weather items you want to see, your route, and the how frequently you'd like to receive your briefings. At the requested times, your briefing will be assembled and waiting for you (or even emailed directly to your inbox!).

So you can have the latest weather details and imagery for KABQ-KICT flight conveniently waiting for you promptly at 6 am when you sit down with your morning coffee, and then again when you get to the airport a couple hours later. Your customized briefing will include dynamic image loops presented in an easily-navigable format.

Want to see include something else in your briefing? Simply update your customized settings, and re-generate. Typical briefings can be re-created in 1-3 minutes.

See for yourself! Here's an example briefing for that KABQ-KICT flight.
